Reported Crop Circles for the State of Ohio -

Dellroy, Carrol County (June 26, 1965)

On June 26, farmer Joseph Stavano heard an explosion while on his farm, but he could not find the source of it at the time. Two days later, he discovered a 26' diameter circle with an outer 13' diameter "ring" in his wheat field. The wheat in the circle had been subjected to such force, that much of the wheat had been ripped right out of the ground and left bare patches of soil. The outer edge of the circle called the "ring" by investigators was radially flattened and was about 13 feet wide. This crop circle had one of the very earliest aerial photos taken of a crop circle worldwide:

Richard Lee, an investigator with Ohio MUFON at the time, visited the site with several colleagues, and has given us several color slides of ground photos of the formation that he had taken around dusk:

There were quite a number of puzzled people who visited the circle trying to understand what took place.  The deep hole inside the circle was made by investigators collecting soil for later analysis.  Richard Lee also indicated that the soil in that spot where the hole was dug was quite soft, and there had been some speculation that they might be able to recover a meteorite if they dug it out (none was found).
